Holdren was dead wrong on modern agriculture

Holdren’s understanding of climate science is proving to be similar to his knowledge of agriculture. The website Haunting The Library uncovered a key morsel about Holdren from 1970. Holdren told a reporter that the new crops being developed by [the late Nobel Prize winner] Dr. Norman Borlaug was a disaster, and not suitable for Africa and Asia: “We cannot use the same technological bludgeon on the underdeveloped countries that we have used on our own, seriously deteriorating our environment” said John P. Holdren of Stanford University. [End 1970 article excerpt]

Renowned agricultural scientist Norman Borlaug, known as the father of the “Green Revolution” for saving over a billion people from starvation by utilizing pioneering high yield farming techniques, is one of only five people in history who has been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom ,and the Congressional Gold Medal. Borlaug, who died in 2009, was also a man-made global warming skeptic.

Holdren has been repeatedly and spectacularly wrong in areas where he was alleged to be an “expert.” Holdren thought he knew better than Borlaug in 1970. Amazingly, Holdren thinks he understands climate science in 2011. It is puzzling that Holdren has not chosen to go in hiding out of sheer embarrassment for his massive scientific failings.
