John Lennon’s killer, Mark David Chapman, up for parole in New York
Officials say John Lennon’s killer, who is up for parole for the seventh time, could have a parole hearing as early as Tuesday.
New York Department of Corrections spokeswoman Linda Foglia says Mark David Chapman is scheduled to be interviewed by members of the parole board this week. She says they could make a decision by Thursday or Friday.
Chapman shot Lennon in December 1980 outside the Manhattan apartment building where the former Beatle lived. He was sentenced in 1981 to 20 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

If I was Mark David Chapman,I would be afraid for my life. There is still alot of John Lennon fans who would try to kill him for murdering John Lennon.I hope he never get paroled, the same way I hope Charles Manson never gets paroled either.I believe they should get life in prison without parole.
Michael – I agree with you. Even if Mark Chapman were released today he would forever have to be looking over his shoulder. However in the larger frame of things I believe he should now be entitled to parole no matter how catastrophic and terrible his crime remains in the hearts and minds of many. It’s the same case in the UK. Peter Sutcliffe – Myra Hindley and Ian Brady amongst others immediately spring to mind.
Apparently J.D Salinger’s ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ was inspiration for Chapman’s desire to kill Lennon, however, upon perusing the novel, I fail to see Chapman’s justification for doing what he did. It’s like the shooting involving Dimebag Darrrell and others in 2004 and the shooter in that BIG EVENT was put away. Most likely he’ll be denied parole again on grounds that the parole board wishes to protect him for if he were to be released, he would be assassinated quickly. Chapman’s desire to become a woodsman upon release obviously has taught him nothing since his incarceration. But as Perry Farrell once said………NOTHING’S SHOCKING.
See you in hell baby!! Dario
