‘Millennium Bomber’ gets 37 years for plotting attack
The ‘Millennium Bomber’ – Ahmed Ressam, an Algerian-born Canadian citizen – was re-sentenced Wednesday to 37 years in prison, according to local reports, after his earlier sentence of 22 years was deemed too lenient.
An active member of al-Qaida, Ressam was arrested in December 1999 with more than 59 kilograms of explosives and detonators in the trunk of his rental car at the U.S. border, south of Vancouver.
